The Season of Lent 2022

Ash Wednesday begins the holy season of Lent. The date is March 2nd. Lent is a special time in the church year that affords Christians as well as all people the opportunity to reflect upon our lives. We live in perilous times. Everything seems so uncertain. Inflation is high which makes the cost of everything we need more expensive. We’re concerned about the health and well being of our children, our senior saints, as well as ourselves. We may not be able to verbalize it. But we know things are not the way they should be. We recognize something within us that is even more serious. We know we ourselves think, say and do things that are wrong. That is the purpose of Lent. To help us come to terms with our own sinfulness. And to rejoice that God has brought forgiveness for our sin through His Son and our Savior Jesus Christ. Our Lord died on His cross to atone for our sins. He rose again from the dead three days later on Easter Sunday. Lent is a penitential season which ends in great hope and rejoicing. Thanks be to God in our Lord Jesus Christ.
